On 2 October 2025, the Association of Malaysian Hauliers (AMH) hosted its Coffee Talk at the Premiere Hotel, Klang. The session gathered hauliers, regulators, and technology partners to address two key issues shaping the haulage industry: financial management and road safety.

Managing Cash Flow with Digital Tools
AMH President Mr Soo Chee Yeong noted that longer payment cycles have become a major strain for operators. “Payment terms now stretch to 60 days and beyond, yet costs such as wages, loans, and fuel must be paid on time,” he said. He highlighted how digital invoicing platforms can improve visibility and speed up payments, citing Vietnam’s example where 25% of hauliers received faster payments.

Financial expert Encik Razak of Razak & Co emphasised that proper accounts receivable management is vital. “If it fails, the business fails,” he warned, calling for accurate verification and prompt dispute resolution.

Safety, Technology, and Compliance
Speakers from APAD and JPJ underlined the role of strict compliance and technical standards in preventing accidents. “Safety starts with enforcement and proper maintenance,” said Senior Deputy Chief Enforcement Officer Tuan Norazman Nordin.

From the manufacturer’s side, MAN Truck & Bus Malaysia Managing Director Marc Appelt stressed the value of advanced braking and safety systems, such as ABS, ESP, and Emergency Brake Assist, in reducing collisions and protecting drivers.

Driving Industry Resilience
The event underscored how finance, technology, and safety are closely linked in modern haulage. With digital tools improving cash flow and advanced vehicle systems enhancing safety, Malaysia’s logistics sector is moving towards a more sustainable and efficient future.
