The new Foton EST and EST A super truck is a co-developed and manufactured product by Foton and Daimler which is equipped with the latest Cummins ISG engine, ZF’s newest generation gearbox and complies with Malaysia’s Euro III emission regulation that enables the super truck to generate 2000Nm torque power with 430 hp. Aside from the low torque and high horse power, the Cummins ISG engine also allows the Super truck to achieve a fuel saving of up to 2-3L/100km as a result of its ultra-high-pressure fuel injection system. The new Foton EST and EST A super trucks are more superior versus the previous Foton ETX prime mover, as the previous Foton EXT were fitted with China local Weichai engine, FAST gearbox and only Euro II emission standard.
Compared to others China brand prime movers, i.e FAW, Sinotruck, Shacman or CAMC, the Foton EST super truck is the only super truck fitted with Cummins’ latest ISG engine. Others are still using the local Weichai or Xichai engine. Foton EST and EST A allow to drive in various modes, such as the crawl mode. Hill start assistance support provides powerful and sensitive drive due to the advancement of the ZF Traxon Automated manual transmission gearbox. In addition, with the sophisticated gearbox it also allows the super truck to be 30 percent quieter during operation. Brands such as FAW, Sinotruck, Dong Feng and CAMC are still using manual gearboxes. Furthermore, Foton EST A is the only China truck at this moment fitted with ZF Traxon automatic transmission. Foton EST also breaks away from the traditional with the introduction of an AMT gearbox. All these innovations and advancements make Foton EST the market leader in China in terms of technology and innovation.
In comparison with others continental brand prime movers, i.e. Volvo, MAN and Scania, Foton EST or EST A super truck offers a world renown and reliable engine (Cummins – America’s largest engine manufacturer) and gearbox (ZF – German’s largest Gearbox manufacturer) at an affordable price range. Compared with those continental brands, Foton EST and EST A is cheaper by more than RM 100 000.
Moreover, Foton EST and EST A super truck also feature an improved aerodynamic design to reduce the drag coefficient by five percent and fuel consumption by two percent via air deflector optimization, integral-type side apron, bumper corner rounding and optimized headlight housing. As such the design of EST super truck is not merely modernized versus those continental brand primer movers, but its modernized design also enhances the efficiency of the Super Truck.
Lastly, safety and comfort levels of the driver has also been embedded into the infrastructure of Foton EST and EST A super truck, whereby the super truck is equipped with ABS, ASR and Cabin Crash technology in conjunction with ergonomically placed switches and controls. It has an ideal sitting position, excellent angle for mirrors and vision, large cabin with high roof, sufficient storage space and importantly, a large and wide bunk with thick mattress for best resting comfort.
